Is there a previous post you could reference? I had an issue with my 95 not starting. It'd crank, but nothing. Do you hear the fuel pump turn on when you key the ignition on? If so, have you checked the fuel pressure at the rail inside the engine. Anyhow, let me know what's going on and I'll see if I cant help |

My 97 Disco was turning over but wasnt starting. I checked for a spark on my plugs, and eventually had to replace the fuel pump. Pretty simple job. It took me about 30 mins, now it runs great again. |

I have a 95. It has some wiring to/from the coil that uses lucas plugs in the harness up near the coil - make sure that are firmly pushed together because mine came apart and it cranked without any sparke because of it. You will know if there is no sparke at all, without even taking a lead off a plug or testing the lead to the distributor because it wont even look like firing. |

Marlin, in regards to the spark plug, it wouldnt hurt to get a spark tester and hook it up to see if you're even getting a spark. In regards to the fuel pressure, if you hook up a fuel pressure gauge to the valve on the fuel rail, you should expect to see about 30-40 psi when the ignition is keyed on, and when you turn the ignition off, the pressure should remain, and drop no more than 5 PSI. I had a no start problem, where the pressure would drop immediatly. I replaced the fuel pump and that wasnt the problem. I ended up replacing the fuel pressure regulator and that fixed the problem. Let us know what you find out about the spark / fuel pressure |

Have you checked to see if the coil works? They do die suddenly without warning. |

I am getting spark because when I hooked up the timing light it came on, I also use a spark plug tester and the coil works, because I tried the coil in a different vehicle and it started. I replace the cap and rotor. The rotor was difficult to pull off maybe something moved. The old rotor had a lot of rust inside. I am thinking the timing is off. I can't see the mark when I crank it. I started twice before this happen without any trouble, the idle was low I think it was around 500 rpm. |

Just because you are getting a spark doesn't mean that the spark is always good or has enough in it to do the job - 8 to 10 years or 100k is about as long as many coils last |

Try spraying some starting fluid into the area where the air filter attaches to the intake. There should be a clip that you can disconnect inorder to spray the fluid directly into the intake. After spraying fluid immediately try to start the vehicle if it fires then dies you know you have a fuel problem, if not it's spark related. |

I just read your last post. I had the exact same problem when I changed my rotor. The rotor shafts on these things DO MOVE. I have never seen another vehicle do this. Take your cap off, have someone crank the motor so you can see if the rotor is turning if it is you can try pushing down on the rotor while turning it 10- 20 degrees in each direction it should drop down into place. Then try to start. Make sure the rear cap clip is on. If this doesn't do it remove the screws from the cap under the rotor.you most likely pulled the rotor off the springs which retain it. This is a shitty design, but it is easy to fix. |

I had the same problem with my 95. My hubby tried EVERYTHING to get it to start and nothing worked. We finally called a tow truck to have it taken to the service center. Once it got there, it started EVERY time for the mechanic! To this day, we don't know what happened. The only thing that we can think of is when it was towed, they raised the back end up and put the front end on dollies so maybe that jarred something loose? |

I still need to check the fuel pressure, but with my rotor and cap I replaced it about 2500 miles ago, before all this happen. |

Well today I check the fuel pressure and it read 40 psi, then drop to about 35-34 psi and remain there. |

Hmm That's good Marlin, that's where it's supposed to be. How was the spark? |

The spark was good because I use a tester and I had a good spark. I'm thinking it is the timing or something is wrong with the rotor shaft. Rotor moves a little bit in each direction, maybe I pulled off the springs that retain the rotor, how do I fix that |
