Cruise control issues

Does anyone have issues with their cruise control? Mine just slowly surges and coasts continuely. And no, I do not live in San Fran! This happens on perfectly level roads (although going up hills, it seems to really speed up). Its not a huge issue, but it gets pretty annoying on long trips. Any ideas? I found that the linkage was out of adjustment. If memory serves me right there is supposed to be about 2mm of play where it clips on the throttle linkage. I just had to unclip it and screw it out.
