Just ordered some Bilstein 7100s with the reservoirs. I know there are a few of you guys out there running this shock. So, how did you mount the reservoirs? Does it include a bracket to mount it to the shock body? Or a bracket to mount it to the frame?

Thanks in advance,
Will Roeder

Will,

I mounted the rear reservoirs with hose clamps to the body of the shock. They supply the rubber support. For the fronts, I had a crossover bar made that bolts to the top of each custom shock mount and crosses over the top front of the engine just behind the alternator, etc. I mounted the reservoirs to that with hose clamps and the rubber supports.

Just curious...is the reservoir really necessary? It's not like our trucks will be traveling at high speeds over rough terrain? (at least not my truck) Wouldn't the 7100's without the reservoirs be just as good for slow rock crawling and everyday on-road use? Any thoughts on this?

Adrian,
Those were my exact thoughts, but i decided to get the reservoirs for 3 reasons.
1) I wanted the 12" shock in the short body variety. This means the compressed length is about 16" and extended is about 28". The problem is that you can not get the short body without the reservoirs...

2) I decided if i was going to plunk down a lot of $ for shocks, i might as well go all the way. For the version with reservoirs its $180per shock vs. $130 per shock for the version without the reservoirs...So i decided that the extra 50 bucks per shock wouldnt be that big of a deal in the long run.

3) They are just so cool :-)
