service engine soon light came up so I went to autozone for the free reading. The code came up as p1400"manufacturer specific code". Has anyone had this problem? Do I have an alternative to going to a dealer? Is there a cheap obdII reader I can buy that will read rover codes. Thanks

I don't have the code book for my OBD-II reader, but sometimes the numeric code isn't defined in Autozone's reader, but you can go to www.disco2.com, which has a list of proprietary OBD codes for the DSII.

Thanks for the advice. actually, I have already checked the bentley manual and the disco2.com webpage, but the p1400 code was not listed.

I don't have that code listed either.Sure it was p1400? Autozone can print you off a list of the codes and what they are.

Check the tech section on OBD2 scan tools. You can get one for about 90.00 from obd2.com or autozone sells them for about 150.00.

I think this one is manufacturer specific so this could be wrong but I have:

P1400 DPFE Circuit Low Input

No idea what DPFE is. It's in the list of codes that come with the software for the BR-1 code reader I bought.

This OBD-II reader is listed in the "Tech" section but the new address is http://obddiagnostics.com/

Hope this helps somehow,
Santo
