I just got the new Onelife mag and I am very disappointed with LR and all their bullshit. What the fuck is that, its all articles. I guess LR is trying to hide the fact that the NRR is a piece of shit and the new Disco is going to be an even bigger piece of shit. Oh well, better hold true and maintain my D2 cause that is probably the last LR I will ever buy.

Pete,

the new RR is just as much a POS compared to the older rovers as (say) D2 to D1. You can continue the chain if you like.

FWIW, I've seen new RRs on some rocks, and they worked pretty well. Sometime, 10 or so years from now, I'll buy myself a '03 RR.

Got mine too. It really didn't hold my attention long enough to make the connection....It's a Land Rover publication? I mean, I think I saw one on the cover but on the inside I thought I was looking at fucking Abecrombie & Fitch catalog.

Yeah it only has one page that talks about the tests they do on the trucks but thats it. Oh and I agree that the Freelander is pretty good off-road and the same with the new RR but what I mean when I say they are POS is that they will have nowhere near the same type of durablity as the D2 and older Discos and older RRs. Also in terms of actually doing your own work on them, it seems like now the new LRs are going to have to be serviced only at the d**lership, or until us D-Webbers become tech savvy enough. LOL!!

"very capable rig"

sure it is. so are Subaru Forester, Honda CR-V, you name it. Audi Quattro is near the top end of this spectrum, along with Cayenne and Touareg.

a motorcycle is a capable rig, too.

Peter,

I know everyone bashes the Freelanders, but for what market they are for, they do quite well. I have driven one threw some nasty stuff that a D2 barely made it through. I am very impressed with them. I will have to say though, I am not much on the D3 going to FIS.

I am just a traditional truck kinda guy! Yeah not happy about the way Rover is going. I actually, to tell you the truth, was happy Ford bought Rover from BMW. Ford at least makes trucks and has been for a long long time. I was expecting them to make them better especially since the F series are such great trucks. But I guess noone really sees LRs as work/off-road trucks. So now we are seeing the design getting fucked up. Time will tell though, maybe they will put three diff locks and 33 inch tires as standard equipment. Dreaming..........
