I'm getting a group together and doing a little 4-wheeling and camping on May 3-5 at George Washington Nationals Forest near Harrisonburg, VA.

Anyone interested in going?

Neal,

I would love to go, But I am camping at Uwharrie on the weekends of April 19-20 and 25-27. If I have the time, I might make the 7 hour trip up from Jville.

I'm in Neal. Where are you planning to camp? I usually camp up at Meadows Knob. Nice 360 degree view when at camp.

I don't really have a camping preference. I don't know where you're talking about but it sounds nice. I was thinkning about leaving Hagerstown somtime after lunch on Friday. If you can't leave work early, we could meet up somewhere.

If I can swing it Neal, I'l be rolling in Friday night. Therefore Jason, I will require a good scotch to be on station upon arrival!

Count me in, should we plan on Sheetz on Fri afternoon sometime? The knob seems like a long way to go Fri nite since we'd probably be back to 33 on Sat AM anyway. Maybe we could camp at Dry River or on the other side of the dike on Fri nite, easy for late or Sat arrivals to find us, then we could trek to the knob for Sat night.

Yeah Mike, I think you're right. Meadows is nice but we'd back on 33 in the AM. Good call.

Dick,

I don't understand your post. I think that it is clear who has committed to go by reading this thread. There are a couple of guys from my town that I normally wheel with that may attend but they have not committed.

What is the deal with your profile? Disco A. Dick and [email protected]? Are you just kidding around or are you here to harass everyone?

I may be out. Too much carnage at Uwharrie this weekend and still finding more. Right front directional smashed, left headlight inop, blown left SLS bag (thanks to Thatched Roof, did a spring conversion on site), tree damage on left rear door and high left quarter, and had to remove my exhaust system from the cats back at a fucking gas station in BFE because it had separated from the muffler (ever hear a D2 with straight pipes??) Anyway, I feel like I need to catch up with the repairs and see if anything else pops up. I'm sure Paul would agree, the mud was a whore down there this weekend.

On the 4th there will be an "off-road park" open in Harrisonburg. Its called Bigs Boys Play Ground. He will be open on the 4th to the public. The cost is 10.00. I have been there once last year and it may be worth the entry fee. I have heard he had added a lot of new trails and mud pits to the land. Last year he had a rock garden, mud pit (deep as hell), a trail running up a stream, and some good off camber hill climbs. This year he has added some rock face climbs and some other trails.

The place is located across the street from Dean Steel on Rt. 11 just north of the Harrisonburg City limits. The guy who ownes the land is a prick, but he had some good stuff last year.

No, but very close. If you get off that exit you would head back north on Rt.11 about 1-2 miles and its on the other side of the road.

Mike and Neal,

I made it back to NC. GWNF is a wonderful place and it was worth the 860 mile round trip.

I think Shawn is going to tell the Mrs that he "needs" a Rover now.

Keep in touch,

I hear ya Jason. I just sprayed off the exterior of the Pig. As soon as I get back from the UK, it's going to be a full wash and wax.

On another note Jason, my local dealer quoted me $57 per front blinker. So I ordered them from AG for roughly $22 a piece cheaper.

I think it would be great to get Mike, Neal, Crazy Mike, Trevor, and you too all convoy down for the SAE. What do ya guys think?

Hey guys,
Looks like I'm not going to be wheeling anymore. Gotta make room for a new WRX. I wish I could could keep the Disco but I need to put out a nice down payment so she's gotta go :-( The truck is still in pretty good condition (120k), would make an excellent trail rig if anyone is interested. I have a spare front diff and plenty of other parts that go with the deal. Put a ton of money in lately so it still runs great. Only asking $6k (clean title), need to move quick if anyone is interested. Dan: 7039294551

Now that I think about it i def. could have made some extra cash with some of my parts but the dealship took her for a decent price so i'm devoted to my new toy (a WRX). I'll get another Rover when I think i can afford to the fill tank every week.

I got the plain WRX (0-60 in 5.4 secs), my Dad since buying the WRX for me is now putting a deposit down on a STI, its pretty wicked. I'm not a sell-out either, a WRX is a little more practicle for me commuting to and from school all the time. As soon as I start making some money i'll be doin it right in a D90, you can count on that.

Why don't you get your dad to buy you a G-wagon so you can pull the WRX out when it gets stuck on a sleet covered driveway....go cart driver.

Man you guys are rough. It wasn't all my choice. I loved 4wheeling and i'm going to get back in it when I get out of school and can afford to pay for the shit i break on my own. Maybe my son will be able to have a hooked up Disco I for his first car Its hard to justify needing new axles and fenders and whatever else you break when you wheel to someone who isn't doing the wheeling. But if you're calling the WRX a go kart I suggest you try one. It'll take just about any other car on the street, with the obvious exceptions (perhaps a 2002 or newer M3 or a Vette or some other crap muscle car). Running close to 5 seconds flat 0-60 isn't a slow car by any means and put an AWD system with a limited slip in the rear and this car will leave just about everything in the dust on any back road. Those roads fire roads in GW would be a lot of fun.

hehe, just bustin' on you, although that G-wagen comment is funny. I've test driven the WRX many times (they won't let me drive it anymore in Staunton), no question about it's performance. No question you'll have fun. I'll be interested to hear what you think about the size after you've lived with it for a while...

Yea i'm sure its going to take some getting used to but I think I'll manage. Didn't have a whole lot of room in the Disco after i filled it with subs and all the tools I needed to fix it everytime something went wrong.

I'm just giving you a hard time. I had a modified GMC Typhoon, 0-60 4.9 secs and it's a SUV. Limited slips front and rear with turbo. I lost my license quickly. Beware of the ease of doing 90mph.

Yea, My good friend had a Sycloon. That truck was crazy. Had had turned up the boost a little bit, then a little more then a little more then BOOM. He threw 3 rods thru the bottom. He rebuilt the motor and sold the truck.

Yea, I looked at a couple Typhoons when I got my license a few years back. Pops didn't like the idea of that much. I just can't believe the amount of grip the WRX has. It feels like i could do just bout anything and it would hold the road. I've already had my big ticket (93 in a 50 2 years ago), got off luckily but i can't get anymore. The car comes with a free membership to the SCCA so i'm going to do some autocross and get the racing out of my system that way, both my sister and my Dad run in their M's so it should be fun. My dad said he got the car cause he knows i'm going to lose my license and that way he'll get to drive it, i gotta prove him wrong.
