Some radio talk show this morning features two whiny people, Bob and Sheri, and their whiny discussion of the evils of Hummers and other large "SUV" type vehicles. They asked listeners to phone in with their whiny complaints about Hummers and others on the road. What an incredible display of losers! Some girl calls in and complains about not being able to see out of her tiny little Ford Escort, and then blames it on the Hummer. Another caller, and the show's hosts agreed to support this, advocates banning all large vehicles because "they are not fair to everyone else". I celebrate the right to free speech, but these people's message is all wrong. If they had their way they'd require government control of all vehicle purchases and prohibit the private ownership of any vehicle larger and more expensive than what they can afford. Why is it that when some people can't do something, or afford something, or have the courage to do something they become angry and lash out against those who can? Rant off. But I will be sure to enjoy my drive in this morning... Ron "I'll try to be nicer if you'll try to be smarter" Ward |

Ron, I've heard those two before, I don't remember the topic covered when I listened, but I do recall that i was not impressed at all. As for the girl in the Escort, she just hasn't had the right experience in a large vehicle. you should have called in and invited her to go out with you and then driven to "The Point" where you could show her all the wonders of a large interior People generally suck, but, sometimes it's a nice thing to do

In general, people are afraid of freedom, or more directly, people are intimidated by other people who are confident in making decisions and taking action in which the responsibility for the consequences is their own. It's a strange phenomenon, you see it all time, small and large examples. People (supposedly socially liberal) make value judgements about you because you choose not to have children or because you choose to live in the woods or because you refuse to be cowwed by the mass group-think of month. I find ironic that these so-called "progressive thinkers" are blinded by this hysteria to the point where they cannot accept anyone who does not think like them!! |

We should try to get a hold of the phone number for that Radio show and make some calls ourselves. |

Compact car owners are really turning this into another "greatly needed" debate (lol). Like there's enough not already enough going on right now... It just makes me sick.

I think vehicles UNDER a certain gross weight should be banned. When I'm driving in someone elses little shitbox, I don't feel safe period. Hit a deer, have a blowout....... |

I had a blowout on a KIA rental going over a RR track. Promptly returned it for a better (larger)car. A deer or blowout might kill you. |

YEAH! How about how *I* feel when I'm barrelling down on some mini-sub-compact-toy car? I'm always so afraid I'm going to crush them! Shouldn't *they* be banned since they make *me* nervous??? |

Found this in a local newsletter. Signs your SUV is Too Big: Your kids refer to riding the school bus as down-sizing. Before you go out, you have to file for a parade permit. It has its own gravitational field and has drawn a Geo Metro into its orbit. There are two successful Starbucks franchises in the back seat. Your buddy riding shotgun is in a different time zone. The fuel guage doubles as a fan. You get a letter from Hans Blix demanding that it be dismantled immediately. |
