Anyone ever buy parts for their Rangie from Autozone. I checked prices for rotors for example and the cost difference is astounding. What am I missing? and where they quality parts?

really,, what year rangie you have and how much do they want for rotors?

i use advanced auto a lot because they are so close, but there rotor arm for the distributor was shit so i am leary with that stuff. i have found typically advance to be very over priced and not quality to match. on items like the rotors.

My Autozone couldn't get the cap or rotor. The aftermarkets are usually crap anyway - stick with genuine. They do have a good stepper motor for about $32.

I think it's a Wells AC102 but they can cross reference it.

Got the Wells AC102 it came up as for a 88 Camaro, it was $40 at my autozone, screwed and plugged right in, the old rover idles so smooth I don't know what to do. The old one was black with soot. For kicks I had them run the number for my 92 landrover and it came up with AC114 for $176, what a scam, must be the special landrover tax, because we're all so rich.

Thanks again Steve for the part #.

I just bought another stepper motor for a friend yesterday with an 87 RRC, Went in to Advance ( used to be Discount Auto) asked for a idle control valve for an 86 Buick Grand National Turbo. Came back with the part, $27 plus tax, screwed it in, problem solved, and away we went. Total time from drive up to install and drive away 6 minutes.

Is the stepper motor the same for the 3.9 & the 4.2? If not, does anyone have a part number for the 4.2 stepper motor?

No problem. A little stepper motor/Idle air control valve research led to the following list. I don't know anything about the quality of any of the following, but they all seem to fit our trucks:
Niehoff #21738 $37
Wells AC102 $35
Napa #MPF31738 $36
Echlin#CRB 21738 $53
Lucas C4030 56730 $140

For whatever it's worth.
Rick
