OK, I found a donor set of injectors and a place locally that will flow test, clean, etc my donor injectors, and have them done for me same day for only $5.00 per injector.

Who has had their injectors cleaned, and was the improvement dramatic?

I'm hoping for an improvement in idle and fuel mileage. Yes, I'm expecting the improvement in idle to exceed any improvement in fuel economy.

They go to the shop tomorrow at 0800 hours.

Awesome Paul. I was going to have this done, but I havnt looked around locally at the truck shops, I need to find out if they can do non-diesel injectors.

I found one place that you can send your injectors to for 11 bucks each, he'll flow test before, clean them inside and out, replace the screens, flow test them again. Then he gives you the results of the test, and will match the flow patterns so if one of your injectors is spraying too much or too little, he'll give you one of his injectors that matches your flow.

Let me know how this turns out.

Take a look at the step by step of what they do, and let me know if your cleaning is this thorough.

My local independent Rover mechanic has some sort of aparatus that he hooks up to the intake and runs some chemicals through the fuel injection as it idles. It works great -- my motor ran much better after the "treatment."

OK, got the injectors back from the shop.

While I didn't get a matched set from their stores, I did get new filters and cleaned injectors.

Norm:
If you ever remove the fuel rail from your vehicle, you will never pay for a service like you described. The rust was caked in the rail above the injectors. When the filters were removed, they were similarly caked. So badly that the guy at the injector shop was hesitant in putting my injectors through his tester for fear the rust would cause problems with his machine! There is no way a machine could remove this rust without removing the injectors from the vehicle.

Removal of the rust from the fuel rail required a shotgun cleaning brush and elbow grease!

I easily removed a teaspoon full of rust flakes from the fuel rail!

Haven't had an opportunity to install the cleaned injectors in the truck-maybe tonight if I get the taxes paid early enough.

Peace,
Paul

Eric:
I don't have the time that Blue has to take pics and then download them. I do have several injector swaps scheduled in the near future, I'll try to take some pics when I get into the next one.

Peace,
Paul

I have had the same work done on a Audi. All that is done is paint thinner is run through the injectors, it does work. Just make sure that your injector gaskets havent dry rotted, ie leaking.
