It looks like I'll be going down to Tellico for the GSMTR LandCruiser event the weekend of May 15-18. I'd hate to be the only Disco!

It's usually pretty crowded, but pretty entertaining. Lots of rock-crawling to watch, lots of trails to run. If you're into both Cruisers and Rovers, as I am, you'll like this event. If you've never been to Tellico before, you can usually expect some kind of carnage.

We'll be leaving Virginia late Thur., it's a 7+ hour drive from Charlottesville.

Just thought I'd throw it out there if any D-Webbers were interested.

Sounds good. Nope, James, not yet. This weekend, though!!!! Robert, I'll look your truck up and be on the lookout for you. We'll be camping in one of the national forest campgrounds, don't know which yet.

Enoch,
I may head up that way, too. I'm not sure, though...after my last trip to Tellico, I'm wanting to put some beefier steering links and rock sliders on. No horror stories to tell, but there were more than a few close calls. If I can scrape together money enough for the steering links, count me in.

FYI....
Tellico has changed a lot over hte past few months. I just got back from there and it was harder than last august(there were still some easy trails, but none that were easy enough for a stock truck)

Damn...that's the same weekend of my graduation. Who is planning to head up to Tellico, and what days? I may be able to manage one day, but I don't know...that depends on whether or not the sliders are on by then (STILL haven't gotten them).

Rob, what type of Rock Sliders do you have? Does it have the "Nerf Bar".

D.Chapman, In the above picture I had no sliders, thus ended up with 2 dented doors and no more plastic sill down there. I got RoverTym sliders with the "nerf bar". I've seen both the good and bad of them, but for me the good far outweighs the bad. I've had my rig sitting over on it's side with the slider holding the truck off of the ground keeping my body a little more intact. But I've seen the "nerf bar" bend the hell out of the front wings too. I like em, still better than what would happen without anything there.. Later..RS

Zach, you coming up Saturday? Enoch, when you going to be there? I can't camp but can spend the day Saturday, and will probably hang out at Slick Rock Saturday night to see some carnage.

FRS 10 or CB 19, I guess, although there will be lots of people using CBs, probably. Not sure where I'll be camping, can't really remember the site names, except it is the last campground on the left before you get to the store. It is also the only campground you actually drive into off the road a ways.
I'll be on the lookout for any Discos, for sure! We won't be hard to pick out...

Robert,
My high school graduation is Saturday morning at 8:30, so IF I am able to get up to Tellico at all, it will most likely be either Thursday night or Friday morning, and I would stay until Friday evening sometime. I would come after graduation, but I'm sure the family will want to do stuff...oh well. I'll keep y'all posted as I find things out.

Hey to both, forcast is calling for rain this weekend, and I'm not really into wheeling in the rain. Last time I went out in the rain I really tore up my shi$. I may still come down just to spectate though. Later.. RS.. and Zach, perhaps a Prentice Cooper run in June? or Monteagle with the TN Rovers group?

Robert,
Diff guards came yesterday, but I won't be able to make it to Tellico, I'm afraid. Besides, rain isn't my favorite either. Prentice Cooper sounds great--so does Monteagle. Just keep me posted, and I'll be there.

Want to plan a Prentice Cooper run in June sometime? I went to trade the Disco today and my heart just wasn't in it. I guess I'll have to get the a/c fixed now:-( but at least I'm still rollin' in the Rover

Had a great weekend. Only one bear in camp, minor damage. Only one quarter panel mashed in, minor damage. Rained like hell, slept in the truck. Went on two LONG, RAINY, night runs, plus shorter day runs, it was great. Ran 4,5,6,8, most in both directions. Spent a good bit of time watching the mayhem on lower 2. Stayed away from the harder stuff, although parts of 4 and 6 are a lot harder than they were 2 years ago when I was there. Recently installed RTE rocksliders earned their money, no question I would have busted the bottoms of my doors.
Only about a half-dozen trucks made it up lower 2 without winching all weekend, saw a truck roll-over, one catch fire, one guy cut the heck out of his head on the windshield.
Saw no other discos on the trails... :-(
All in all, a great weekend, the truck did great, and drove 9 hours home today just fine!
Sorry to miss you guys.

Well, I got the sliders and diff guards on--finally. Went to Tellico Sunday evening, but didn't take the Rover (needs a new oil pan gasket). I went with three other guys in a '78 bronco and an 82 toyota. Both are locked, lifted, and sitting on 35's. We had 3 near roll-overs, one broken wheel bearing, one broken axle, and the toyota caught on fire. We ran 4 and 5, then 6 and part of 7. I wish I had been able to take the Rover, but it needs beefier tires before trying to tackle 6, and a winch before 7. Robert, Will, let me know whenever you guys want to meet up to go somewhere, and I'm there. We'll hit either P.C. or Monteagle--hell, we'll do both. Just pick a date and I'm there. Sorry to miss everybody!

Best-
Zach
