Whats the deal with this problem. It seems most RR from 87 - 95 suffer from this disease. It also appears that it was never corrected. I obviously have this problem with my 93 LWB and am wondering since the window itself is in excellent shape can the frame be replaced by itself without spending the $ 1000 for the whole thing. Pls advise. Thanks |

Design problem that they never corrected in the 25 years they built the thing. Go figure. Go aluminum or powder-coated steel. Britannica Restoration Canada (http://www.britrest.com/) is selling a powder-coated steel upper tailgate frame for something like $250 CDN. You have to take your existing one apart and transfer the bits, but I think I'm going that route when I do mine sometime this summer. |

IF IT IS NOT TO BAD. I HAVE SEALED THEM ALL THE WAY AROUND THE WINDOW WITH A SMALL BEAD OF BLACK SILICONE.(LIKE CAULKING A TUB)REMOVED A COUPLE OF THE WIRE HIDING TRIM SCREWS AND SPRAYED SOME TYPE OF RUST RESTORE PRODUCT TROUGH A SPRAY NOZZLE. WHEN THAT DRIES SPRAY SOME TYPE OF SPRAY OIL (SPRAY GREASE IS BETTER) IN THE SAME HOLES. MY THEORY IS THAT WATER AND MOSTLY ALCOHOL BASED WASHER FLUID RUNS DOWN THE GLASS A GETS INTO THE BOTTOM PART OF THE WINDOW FRAME.THAT IS WHY SEALING THEM WITH SILICONE HELPS STOP AND PREVENTS DAMAGE. |
