Earlier this winter check engine light came on and I took the truck to a local, non rover dealer and he said it threw out P1193. He reset the light and it stayed off for about three weeks and then came back on again. I am now, some time later taking the truck to the dealer next week to see if they can give me a fix. My two questions are:

1. The code definition is P1193-
Oxygen Sensor Heater Circuit Open Downstream, what exactlt does this mean?

2.What are the chances that the code it threw the first time is the code it is throwing out after it was reset?

thanks for your time,
matt

Our trucks use heated O2 sensors... There is actually a little heater in them to get them up to heat faster so the engine runs in Closed loop sooner... Sounds like the little heater might have busted... It's almost like a wire in a light bulb surrounded by ceramic in some sensors... Should be fine to use it that way but eventually you'll need to get a new O2 sensor...
