I am replacing the tires on my 95 Disco and I am between the following: Pirelli Scorpion ST, Michelin Cross Terrain and the BF Goodrich Long Terrain TA. I drive mostly on road and some off road (75/25). Any comments or recommendations??? Thank you, JP |

Mostly on road: I would suggest BF Goodrich's Commercial T/A "Traction" tire (not the plain Commercial tire, make sure that it is the "Traction" version); close to stock size is 225/75R16; this is what we have on my wife's Disco. A bit better off-road, but still good on the highway, is Dunlop Radial Rover R/T, and I'd suggest maybe going up to 245/75R16 in size: you'd have to either trim the rear wheelwell a little, or fabricate a small bracket to to push the rear qaurter-panel out a little (or, stick with the 225/75 size instead). The other tires you list wouldn't be bad either, I wouldn't imagine, but I haven't used them personally, only these other two. FWIW... -L

Have you considered the Michelin XZL 9.00s? There only 36.5" tall and I hear you can just throw them on your disco for racing purposes if your are an Extemist. Do you have any kids? |

The Scorpion ST are fine on the street and in the sand, but are you sure about that 75/25 split? That's 1.75 days a week off road! Maybe you should go for something a little more aggressive. |

I had the Mich' Cross Terrains on my Disco when it was stock 235/70/16s, and I loved them. I did/do primarily highway driving, but they held their own offroad. I can remember a couple of times when a couple of friends with their BFG A/Ts got stuck in what I made it through on the trail. Not saying that tires were the reason behind that but it sure made me look nice being the only stocker not spinning deeper and deeper into the muck. Anyhow..We bought my wife a D2 and I put a set on there as well. They definitely aren't the cheapest option, but are pretty much the only ones that I know of with a 65k mile warranty. Go Mich! |

Michelin SYNCHRONES were made for the ROVER....if you can afford it get the best..it makes a difference...first had TOYO tires on and they truly sucked...swishy drive.... with the SYNCHRONESthe stronger sidewalls are equipped to handle the heavier weight truck...and the ride is like butter..... |
