Hey Gang..

I have been reviewing the archives, and whatnot; yet to no avail have I found the answer I was really looking for. The Disco 1 I just purchased has no brush bar mounted, and it was one of the inital items I was going to add.

Can the OEM Brush Bar can house a winch? I have seen an attachment for the "A" Bar, but not sure if it would work for the full Brush Bar.

I love the look of the factory Brush bar (with the headlight coverings), but in need of a winch for the truck.

I do not like the look of the SlimLine Brush-gaurd / bumper combo, nor the ARB or TJM.

Does anyone know of any other bumper/brush gaurd with winch capabilities that look simular to the OEM unit?

Thanks,

Mike

How about the OEM winch bar?

You could get an upper brush bar piece with it, in fact at MAR two years ago they had two or three and they sold really cheap (kicking myself for not buying them:-()

Get a RTE bumper and weld or bolt the top of the brush bar onto it. Or get the KVT special at Rover Solutions on this site.

Ron / Dean; The one pictured here:

Thats exactly what I am looking for. Is this a factory OEM winch bar? Or is this a product of KVT, custom made? I emailed them, and wait their reply... but any ideas on winch types, price, etc?

Thanks for the helpful information!

Mike,

You're asking if that is a factory OEM?:-) LOL Just wait for Kyle to get back to you on the price. In case you don't know he's one of the originators of dweb.

If he's backed up and you are handy with a welder you can get a similar effect with a RTE slimline and your old brushbar. You'll need to supply your brushbar either way.

Dean-

I know, I know.... Slap me stupid. :-)

I am a noob, and not afraid to say it! Last night I was just so excited when I saw that picture... I have been surfing the web for something like this to no avail. I knew you could buy an OEM A bar mount, but didnt' know if it made it for the whole thing or what.

Thanks!

Mike

Do you need to winch yourself offroading, or is it just part of your job?

As far as I know the A-frame is the only rover bar that can mount a winch. The bush bar can't, and neither can you put the wrap-around brush bar onto the a-frame.
But I think you'll find doing it the non-rover way far better and cheaper. In the UK when I looked once, rover wanted 3000 pounds ($4500) for the a-bar and a winch! Fuck that.

Dean-

Currently the vehicle is still in transit to me. It doesn't have any of the neato 4x4 off-road items. I plan on the items to be dual functionality; looks & performance.

I will off-road my truck. There is a 5 day rover adventure trail that is located near by. Part of its requirements is a winch.

So, it will be used when needed. I really like the bumper / brush gaurd / winch combo that Kyle (www.roversolutions.com) has. Just need to get him to make me one. :-)

Thanks,

Mike

If you get the RTE slimline it's completely flat on top and its simple to weld (or bolt, as in this case) the brush bar on. The RTE is 1/4" steel plate and its simple to tap thread in:

Dean-

Bolt? In the picture you provided, it looked very nice. That is the look I am going for. Either option (KVT) or the one you showed.

When I looked at the Slimlines, I didn't think it would be that easy to fabricate without going to the troubles of really doing it. I don't mind fabrication, but if there is an option to purchase the item already completed; then I am all for it.

When you mention bolt on, could you elaborate?

Thanks,

Mike

Is that your truck Dean? That looks like an interesting option. How hard is it to bolt the top half of a brush bar on the RTE slimeline?

Ok there are two plates welded on to the brush bar legs, with two bolts on each going in to the bumper. And another bolt on each side wrap bar for strength. There's no real advantage over, say Kyles straight weld-on, except you can take it off easily if necessary.
