I ran a search for Replace Fuel Filter and couldn't find anything about how to specifically change the fuel filter. I am sure I need to depressurize the system but not sure of the recommended method. Can anyone fill me in with a step by step - this will be my first time changing it out on my 98 Disco. Thanks. |

It's easy, sort of... I depresurize the fuel system by pulling the fuel pump fuse under the hood, starting the truck and letting it run untill it dies, some people do it other ways but I think that is the easiest. After that its as 'simple' as undoing the old one and putting the new one one, I use quotations around simple because the fittings are probablly going to be siezed and due to the location you will probablly get some bloody knuckles. Some people suggest actually cutting the lines and attaching the new one with hose clamps, but I have always wrestled w/ it untill i got the old fittings off and back on. |

I have never had any problems getting the filter off, but then again I change it every year. I never bothered with depressurizing anything either, but don't smoke while you are doing it..... - Axel

Reminds me or a Darwin Award candidate from my home state Ax: Guy had a can of gasoline, wanted to see how much was left in it so he did the most logical thing he could think of and lit his cigarette lighter in the opening to have a look inside..... When I first saw this in the local paper I just KNEW it would be in the awards and sure enough there it was a few months later. Some people. |
