I am still having a horrible vibration in the front end of my 96 Disco. I have tried many things. Exhaust manifold, gasket for same, I have pulled and repacked bearings, swivel, tightened motor mounts, panhard bar and every other thing I could find that would tighten.

I took my wife for a run to see if she could help me pinpoint the vibe and in the passenger seat floorboard she felt a very serious vibration. The faster you go, the louder and rougher it gets. Let off of the gas and it is gone. I get no clunks or noises in turns, over bumps or at any other time. Under load around 35 miles an hour or higher and it sounds as though it is going to blow. No feedback through the steering wheel at all. Could this be bushings?

No feedback throught the steering wheel makes it sound like it is something besides bushings, I would start by taking Will's advice w/ the U joints

does anyone happen to know if NAPA 344's will fit that? I have seen info that says that they will, and I have seen info that says no.

Randy, I have a very similar vibration and I beleive that I have traced its origin to the front output shaft bearing of the transfer case.
I have some bearing looseness which allows the shaft to move (8 Mils) in a radial direction. Place your hand on the Center Diff Shifter and you will notice that the vib. is worse there than anywhere else.
I am not certain of this being my cause but I have checked everything else. I even removed the drive shafts one at a time and this vibration just has to be coming from the t-case.
I will be watching this thread & I hope to have someone confirm that this bearing looseness can cause this vibration that comes and go.
Good Luck, Stephen

The bolts holding the driveshaft to the t box or diff can get loose......happened to me with symptoms of vibration only apparent under load.
