I did get to tow my sisterinlaws ford explorer home that night though. There transfer case blew up and we were about 80 miles from home. Lucky for them we went the same rout as them. I told them to buy a Land Rover |

How about trying to spray some electrical contact cleaner from radio shack into the switch, might be dirty contacts preventing operation, might also want to check all wire connections to the switch and motor are okay. Be careful with the contact cleaner, stuff comes out very cold and can make plastic pieces snap if you don't allow the plastic to warm back up before operating. Here's a good link: http://www.rangerovers.net/rremedies.htm#seatsw

jerry-buddy... you are in for it if the contact has become dislodged. if you can't get it to work by using the methods described above, get a really big white towel and gently as the summer breeze, crack it open. (the whole box) at this point, the prince of Darkness (lucas electronics) will spew a mess of springs, ball bearings and contacts. the ball bearings sit atop the springs on top and bottom, the contacts have an obvious seating. after you reposition everything, GENTLY replace the caps. its a pain in the butt, but you'll figure it out. oh yeah... have a pair of tweezers handy. ;) good luck J.
