I have a source where I can get Galvanized Steel pieces that I think will work for Sand Tracks. Here are the specs: 11-3/4" Wide x 72" Long x 2" Side Wall (Tall) w/ Closed Ends. They weigh about 30lbs each. They can bear a load of around 500lbs each. They are also available in Aluminum. I can get them for around $200.00 a pair and that includes UPS. How about some input on these bad boys? I have included a picture below...

Seems to me that those wouldn't be great for sand ladders (tracks). The side walls probably aren't such a good idea. They will either cut your tire or not support the weight. I've been pricing out sandladders lately and there are some fairly cheap ones out there. These are the cheapest I have found. http://www.okoffroad.com/stuff-sandladders-aluminum.htm $155 shipped..seems like a good deal. They are wider at 16", which could be bad in the way of storage..but they also spread the weight out alot more. I think I'm going to go with Mantec ladders from DAP..$225 + shipping. Only problem I see with the Mantec's is they are 17" wide..so they are really going to stick out. Just my $.03 |

how many times have you actually gotten stuck in sand and thought, "if only I had some sand ladders handy...."? |

yeah, but they look cool on a LR. kinda like a highlift jack. may not need it, yet, adds to the effect.

Oh God the Sand ladder debate again. Where's Kyle an Mike? :-) Jason, 60lbs for sand ladders is a lot of weight. Keep an eye out for army surplus ladders. I bought a 10ft long aluminum ladder for $20. I cut it in half and it does the trick. They probably weigh about 20 lbs. |
