Yes, OME/OME or OME/Bilstein will give you just under 2" and RTE 2" it is said will give you just over 2".

You might hear a little more groaning every now and then, no worries.

And for $75 bucks you can have the dealer recalibrate the ACE, which should relieve the groaning.
I'm installing OME/OME and 265/75R-16's this weekend on a 99 DII with ACE and SLS. I'll be sure and post if i run into any issues.

did you put 3" under your truck, or 2? i have the 265's under mine as well and i am talking to john at EE about an ome hd 3" setup...he knows that there are a lot of 2" lifts with no troubles, but knows no one with a 3".

thanks,

mike

We'll find out this weekend as I'm going with 3" OME HD. (front OME 751's, and tricking the SLS sensor in the rear)
Again, from what I've been told (or heard) all that needs to be done is to recalibrate the ACE.

I'm on hold with the dealer now to confirm............

Ok, so the dealer is clueless. When I'm done, I'll take it to them to recalibrate the ACE and hope for the best.

Keep you posted...

I'm running 3" RTE springs in front with the SLS spacers in the rear along with ACE and have had no issues except that the rear shocks were topping out. I replaced those with longer travel shocks and everything is great. I wasn't aware that recalibration of the ACE was necessary or even an option, but I haven't noticed any issues and the guy that installed the lift is a LR mechanic. Note that my net lift is about 2.5" with my bumper/winch combo.

Hope that helps.

hey devin...

what year rover did you put this under? also, if it was under warranty, did the dealership give you any trouble for going with 3"?

thanks,

mike

Mike,

Mine is a MY 2000. I'm on pretty good terms with the service guys at the dealership so I haven't had any issues. I suppose that this could be an issue with some dealers, but as far as I know, they would have to prove that the modifications had impact on the part to be "warranted" and they get paid for the work whether it's by LR or the customer. In my area I think there are so many people making mods that they're kind of accustomed to it.

Good info Devin. As I've posted earlier, I'm going 3" higher this weekend. What have you noticed in terms of front and rear articulation with the lift and ACE? I've been told that you get just as much if not more wheel travel with ACE than by diconnecting the sway bars on a non-ACE truck. Have you had an opportunity to pair it up against said non-equipped truck?
Very curious to hear your response.

Jason,

I haven't been off-road w/another DII since the mods have been made, so I don't have any direct comparison right now. I've heard that the TREK vehicles were set up with ACE for the fact that they articulate more, though.

Mike,
No sweat.

I've got a 3" OME Lift with the 1 1/2" rear spacers in the rear and DI springs in the front (the EE setup). It actually works out to be about a 3 1/2" lift overall. No problems with anything. ACE works fine. Not sure if its been recalibrated or not. I had the dealer check everything when after it was put on.

Sweet. I'm getting started here in just a couple hours....as soon as the pavement drys. Sucks not having a garage.

Hey folks,

I am clueless about Discos, just doing some research on them as I plan on picking 1 up once the wife is done with Culinary School. Anyway I'm familiar with Jeeps as I have a 92' XJ Cherokee with 4.5" lift. But don't no jack about L/Rs. Anyway do you guys run into any d/l vibrations above 3"s?? Also I was following this thread and just want to know what is ACE or SLS? Sorry like I said just doing research and trying to figure things out. Oh and 1 last question what are the better years??

TIA

Scott,

I haven't had any driveline issues so far with the lift that I've installed (I had an honest 3" of lift before I put the winch bumper and winch on). I haven't heard many people with Discovery Series II's saying that they have, but there are only a few guys that have lifted them more than 3" that I'm aware of.

ACE is the hydraulic sway bar system that is optional on DII's, and SLS is the self leveling feature that uses rear air springs vs. the coils.

As far as the better years, I would just make sure that you get one that has the ability to lock the center diff, which would mean a DI, or a DII prior to 2002. There's a lot of other debate that I won't get into, but I'm sure you'll hear plenty.

3 inches installed today. Just drove the 40 miles home from my buddies shop with a stiffy.
Steering is definately more sensitive but the ride home was awesome. Feels so much better than stock and having the ACE with the extra hight to the vehicle now, is reassuring and just makes it feel nice and tight around turns with no body roll. I'll post pics tomorrow.

from at least july and past in 2001, there is no linkage to lock the center diff...

Jason:

Try having the front-end re-aligned after the lift. Mine (D1 with 2" RoverTym lift) drove like a drunken sailor after the lift. Re-alignment solved the problem.

Thanks,
Mike B.

Hey Mike, I resemble that remark! I used to be a drunken sailor!!! 4 years on the AC Carrier John F Kennedy.
Yeah, definately needs re-alinged but otherwise it feels nice all around. Looking forward to testing it all at Uwharrie this coming weekend.
