Sorry Steve, that things just for show (and maybe driving through flat mud holes). Nice to see he chromed out the suspension components though, I'm sure that will be real useful.

If I had that H2 and the money to spend that he did I would cut the lift down to maybe 3-4 inches max, use the chrome fund to do a solid axle swap, and trim the wheel wells (if necessary) to fit the tires. Then you would have one hell of a truck.

Getting a Little cocky there and christening your own house a 'mansion'??? It looks nice but until I see a pic of your own personal urinal I'm afraid Craniac still has you beat. :-)

Carter...who says that's my house????? (I'm just trying to get into the slamming-thing...why overlook an opportunity?). Btw..did you check out the lawn...nice weed-patch...everyone knows marathon 1 is the way to go....only posuers use marathon 2!!!!!! And that garden hose is a complete tool. (am I getting it???)

I'm thinking 2-3" lift, Dana 80 front axle, 37" PJ DirtGrips on 16" rims for lots of fluff & float, more hardcore reinforcement/protection under the belly, front electronic locker, somehow cut-out about 12" of vehicle length between front/rear axles...and licorice dispensers for each passenger!!!!

you say its your house, come one there can't be that many "Steve R"s who are insulation contractors with H2s in California. And you can't honestly think that the thread about the yellow H2 from the H2 forum hasn't been IMed to me at least half a dozen times by now. :-)

personal urinal????

How about over 1,240 sq/inches of pure grilling surface and 85,000 btu's of gassing power complete with power-rotiserrie, microwave, oven, frig, stove-top, dishwasher, stereo and 27" tv synched with satellite...all supported with granite counter-tops with a anti-mother-in-law perimeter defense system?

I piss on your urinal (accuracy was never my stronghold).

Sorry, its got to have a urinal. Actually got to use my first 'residential urinal' a few weeks ago, it was truly an amazing experience :-) If I ever build a house it is going to have one.

Okay Carter.....you sorta have me...

BUT, if there's anything I've learned from the Iraqi information minister it's this: deny anything...even the complete obvious...and so..

NO, that's not my house. I'm not Steve R, I don't know who he is and I think that house is a tool. Furthermore...there are no infidels entering the Hummer dealerships and allah is grilling their ignition systems in the service bay (aka, hell)

I know it's just for show...obviously...but I'd still prefer it over the "low-rider" thing!

I'm just trying to entertain you guys and show you that I can laugh at Hummers as well.

Umm, I think I remember the disco guy from my days in Greensboro. He either worked at or hung out at Custom Car HiFi, and I think was into ricers back then.

Makes me kinda proud of my bone stock D2:-)

Steve - great attitude and great points made. I happen prefer the D2 to the H2: Price, size, looks (understated), proven toughness, and fairly simple to repair. Not doubting the hill climbing situation you described, but the Disco's stock tires suck offroad. Different tire = different outcome? Just my 2 cents.

Jack....

Be careful bro....with that pleasant attitude you'll be boo'd off the dweb and banished to the H2 forum!!

In all fairness, the D2 is one hell of a vehicle and OUTSTANDINGLY capable beyond what most would figure just looking at it. They've been all around the globe and to places far and back again! Much like the H2, they also fall into the hands of candy-ass yuppies who fail to appreciate the capabilities and rugged nature of what they have.....but we've covered that...to each their own.

If I had my way...I'd probably want to lift the D2 about 2-3", have front and back electronic lockers, bigger tires, somehow lose about 10" off the rear-end (it does hang out a bit and HAS to get caught up on some stuff a bit?), maybe trim the nose a hair and then beef-up any weak links and plate the heck out of the bottom.

In my hill-climbing situation (previously referred to)...all that disco needed was some more aggressive tires and at least a rear-locker...that's all.

Let's face it guys...a Rubicon with a bit of lift and bigger tires is gonna kick all our butts....but is sure isn't gonna seat 5 adults and cargo....it really just comes down to each vehicle being uniquely good for something. Yours are good for offroading, mines good for consuming massive quantities of gasoline!

Dude, I don't know what kind of gas mileage your H2 gets, but I'll match my D2 to your H2 for the worst mileage contest any day. I just completed a 2,000 mile round trip that only averaged 11.2 mpg for the whole trip, using the cruise most of the way.

Oh I can't Fin' believe this...now you guys won't even let the H2 win in the gas-guzzling title???? I'm averaging about 11.6 in the city and 13.8 highway.

So....you'll match your D2 to my H2, or is it my H2 to your D2...wonderful, then we'll have H2D2...all we need is C3PO and we can re-wire our chips for better peformance.

How could you possibly get that bad a gas mileage??? What does the RR get?

"Greg....is that a D2? kinda looks like an older model Volvo with a bigger windshield?"

Yikes....a VOLVO??? OMG, I think Greg has been emasculated. That had to hurt worse than the short rack syndrome!! Oh man, is he going to be dragging his tail tween....

We're here for ya Greg! We know what your rig can do now that it has a real rack!!

That was cold Steve....but a Volve is still a better look that a Sardine can with portholes! hehehe

No, no bother here. I honestly wish your truck beat me to death in the gas guzzling contest. I would love to get 30 or 40 mpg.

As far as the Volvo comment, I don't have a problem with that. To each his own. However, is it better to drive a car named after a 70's dancing style? Or after a blowjob? hmmmm...

Oh, and it is a 2001 Discovery 2. LR Sticker says 15/17, but I've yet to see those numbers. Prior to the the roof rack/lights install, it got around 13+, but now averages around 10/11 mpg.

Greg...those four dancing figures: that ballerina sorta works for me....think you could do-up something with a bit of tight leather, high heels and some kind of stripper-dancing-routine on the hood of my rig????
