Do replacement bumpers effect airbag deployment? If so how?

The airbags are deployed using a series of inertia sensors. At a basic level, replacing your bumper with an aftermarket one will not affect the deployment of the air bags per se.

Having said that, the ARB bumpers (and possibly others) have crush cans built into the bumpers just like the stock bumpers. These crush cans help absorb much of a low speed impact, prevents damage to the frame, and helps prevent the air bags from deploying pre-maturely.

ARB and TJM are the only bumper manufactures that I know of that actually test their bumpers for air-bag deployment. SafariGard and RoverTym do not. I'm pretty sure that none of the other smaller bumper manufactures test their bumpers either. I'm not saying this is a bad thing, just stating what I know.

I have a SafariGard bumper and I'm not really worried about air-bag deployment.

Thanks,
Mike B.

If you hit the thing hard enough i would bet they would deploy.
