Luckily I use my CDL enough on my 98 DI to have kept it from freezing up. But I was wondering what everyone does to keep the linkage in good shape and functioning smoothly. Any ideas on a schedule and products to use? Mike |

And if it does freeze up, how do you unfreeze and then keep it from freezing again? (Hope you don't mind me expanding your question!) |

I think the best thing to do would be to just use it a few times a month. I dont think I will take time to explain how to unfreezze the diff lock linkage. IMHO there is enough stuff dripping/leaking under our trucks to keep things lubricated. |

"IMHO there is enough stuff dripping/leaking under our trucks to keep things lubricated." I'd disagree w/ that last part. Unless you keep an IV drip going above your front driveshaft to whip some oil to the top of the lt230, then it's not gonna have anything dripping/leaking on it. "I think the best thing to do would be to just use it a few times a month" That is about the best advice. You also should periodically oil the linkage to keep rust at bay. |

Thanks Nathan. I thought that use would keep it free, but was thinking a combo of dirt and corrosion would muck up the works. Any special oil? I was thinking maybe something like lithium grease or maybe some marine grade grease would work. Mike |
