My bumper mounted Hella 4000's have about 1 1/2 inches of water in them after a hood-high, 15 second stream crossing. I just noticed it today, 5 days after it happened. Has anyone else experienced this? I remember the instructions saying something about drilling a drain hole only if one was mounting them upside down. |

It appears that the water was trapepd between the reflector and the lens. I had to take them off, tip them so they were facing up, the water poured back through bulb opening then down to the drain hole in bottom of the steel housing. The lights didn't short and continued to work while they were submerged and taking in water. I'm glad they didn't shatter like my stock headlight lens did after taking a dip in a very cold stream. The lights had been on for a couple hours of crawling over some rocks, so they were very hot. I can live with a little water getting in. |
