my black discovery really shows off the scratches from brush. i buffed most of them out with rubbing compund. Is there any thick wax capable of preventing it from getting scratches AS much?

If you don't buff out the scratches, the new scratches are harder to see.

But honestly, I use Eagle 1's Wax As You Dry every time I wash the Meat Wagon and it seems to help prevent new scratches from forming while in the bush. Usually wash once a week, and the truck once every other week.

Just wax it heavily before you hit the trails. Won't prevent scratches but will make them less severe. You can buff the scratches out after with an orbital buffer.

In Oz we don't call them scratches, we call it "pin stripping".

Get enough mud on it and you won't see them any more.

No, I guess a bath every Saturday, wheather you need it or not, is okay Jason..........

White scratches too Kirk.

You could do what I did and put about 3 or 4 coats of wax on the truck one weekend. That will take a while to scratch through, and scuffs and scratches in the wax will be easier to buff out than those in the paint.

White doesn't scratch and it doesn't get dirty.

I thought I had scratches too deep to ever get out. I got out the orbital and a bottle of Maquires fine cut, went over the sides, then followed up with Maguires #3 'machine only' wax. The results are amazing, almost all scratches are invisible.

Now, though, I've got a problem with the plastic showing white 'wax stuff'. The rough surface plastic is the worst, like the sills where my sliders would be if I had sliders. The bumpers are the second worst.

Help?

Be at one with your scratches. It's just character building, and most of the panels are aly anyway so they won't rust. Gosh I can't hardly find a place on mine that isn't scratched! Pine Barrens en1?

My previous Rover was always waxed and shined up. It was a beautiful truck but I freaked whenever my kids got near it. Just yesterday my son smacked a baseball off the front hood of my present RR. My wife gave me a quick look like "Oh no he's going to throw a freaking fit". I simply shrugged my shoulders and said "No big deal". I simply don't care anymore and everyone is so much happier because of it. It's not that I can't appreciate a well taken care of truck, I just got a little too retentive about it.
