Gordon:

I'm sure you'll be looking for sooner than this, but I'll be in Castle Rock the weekend after July 4th with my brother, and we can try to go someplace if you like...

I drove Kingston Peak Trail (over by Idaho Springs) last October solo, and it is (1) not dangerous by any means and (2) very scenic.

Email me off-list if you like -- I'll send you some pics I took on the trip.

colorado4x4.org and 4x4trails.net are also good places to look for information...

Hi Gordon,
There are many great trails in Colorado that are easy/safe and very scenic. If you haven't already, you may consider joining the Land Rover Colorado Yahoo mailing list: http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/landrovercolorado/ It's a nice way to communicate with other Colorado wheelers interested in planning off road excursions. Also, there are two local clubs you can join to get aquatinted with the area and participate in some off-road trips: http://www.solihullsociety.org/
http://www.roverriders.org/

I would be interested too. I'm in Grand County and have done most of the easy trails around here, but would like to learn and do more. I've got a stock '01 D2, complete with sucky stock Goodyear HP's, but running Blizzaks for a few more days.

I'm going to Moab to bike next week, can anyone recommend a good trail for a stock D2, in case I take a day off of biking. Would like to show my buddy (owns lifted Excursion) some of the Disco's capabilities, w/o leaving too many parts on the trail? I've got some shackles, and good recovery strap, but that's it. So...just something for a few hours where I can't get in too much trouble.

Finally, would you guys keep the Blizzaks on, or switch back to the Goodyears for this?

Thanks,

Jack

Hey Jack.....I think that as long as the Excursion can go you will be able to go too and then some and then some more. That would be an interesting trail run.

Now he is now sure he is going to take the Excurison. He may drive from Moab on to Vegas, and has an Audi A4 - which he may drive.

So, I may have the Excursion owner as a passenger.

Any suggestions on what trails to run there, considering I may be the only vehicle??
