Hi all. I recently purchased an off-lease 2000 Disco II and I need some advice, so I thought some of you folks might have good experience to share. The vehicle has about 48K mi, and the factory warranty is, obviously, about to expire. Given the prices I've been quoted on aftermarket warranties, I'm torn on whether to buy one or not. If so, does anyone have personal experience (good or bad) on particular warr. companies, type of coverage, things to specify or watch out for? Any guidance on this would be greatly appreciated. I would prefer not to make a $3K mistake. |

If you're buying it from a LR dealership, then it should be certified. Typically if it's certified, I think they extend the warranty for 12 months/12k miles. That's what LR Harrisburg did for me. |

Check the archives for my recent detailed post of Land Rover extended warranties. You still qualify to purchase warranty from Land Rover. |

Something to consider is that if you plan on modifying the rig (lift, CDL, tires, etc.), some warranty companies (including LRNA) may not honor a specific claim if the modification could potentially have contributed to the fault. |

You just bought a 2000 diso and the warr is good for 5 years and 50k miles. I would get the two year 50k extened warranty from Land Rover. The time and the miles are added on to the origional warranty. If you got the 50k 2 year plan your warranty would be good for 100k miles and 7 years, (2007 with your Rover if bought in 2000). You would have to pay a 100 dollar deductable and it does not cover body damage. It cost me about 2100 dollars for this. (I have already go me idler pulley and ABS fixed under warrenty.) |
