I was considering removing my upper tailgate and filling the rusted through holes with Por-15 products "Por Patch". Has anyone had success with this product. My tailgate is especially bad at the latch where it's really been weakened from rust. Thanks, S- |

I have had great success with POR products and my range rover. the entire floor is covered from firewall to tailgate, all the wheelwells and portions of frame and such. Sounds like a good idea, I just think you might lose some of the functionality of your latch. Not sure if you mean where the outside handle attaches to center of top window, or in the corners. If you are trying at the handle then you might try to reinforce it with some sheetmetal on the inside and put in longer screws. It worked wonders for me, in the rusted corners my shocks had rusted off, but was able to fabricate an attachment for 85 cents per side. |

Aaron- The worse part is on the inside near the latch. It has some big voids! The shock dampening mounts are also a weak area. My idea was to remove all the hardware and just fill all the voids in with the Por product. Also I'd remove the latch and putting a metal patch around the area to strengthen it up. Happy to hear the stuff works. S- |
