Just had the front passenger window regulator
break - actually the semi-circular metal part
with the teeth that moves the window up and down broke off with a loud clunk when I tried to open the window. (Driver side broke last year).

On the '96 D1, this part is soldered on the lever with 3 solder points (great idea). I think the later models had a one piece design (better idea).

Anyways, not too difficult for a crude fix (1 hour work time).
With the window wedged in fully closed position,
the last two solder points on the lever are accessible through the door cutouts (after removing the inner door panel and door seal).
I used a 3/16" bit, drilled at the corresponding sites, and bolted the semi-circular part back onto the lever. Getting the teeth aligned in the regulator took a little trial and error but eventually it slipped in.
Seems to work OK.
Of course, could get a new window regulator mechanism but did not want to spend the $$$ and time.
