Is there a better epoxy sealer for shop floors, one that offers more traction than what is at Lowes or the Depot? I do not want something that is going to be slick when moisture or oil gets on it. Something textured. Stacey |

You should be able to add the non-stick texturing into whatever paint/sealer you choose. Most paint stores sell it, imagine Lowes / Home Depot does as well. It's basically fine silica (sand) that you add to the paint. |

The stuff used on aircraft hanger floors is better by far, can't remember what it is called but it is very expensive. You can find it in the classifieds publication Trade-A-Plane, and if you go to your local airport and ask a mechanic that works in one of the hangars, they may know also. I had to go with the cheaper garage floor paint because my floor was covered with cheap linoleum (sp?) and the glue would not come off. It works all right for general purpose. But you cannot park directly on it, use a mat. It cleans up nicely, but I will be reapplying about every two years. |

comming from an aircraft mechanic, even the spendy "aircraft" sealers will wear, scratch and peel. the majority of the adhesion come from how well the floor is prep'd. stay away from hardware store sealers. check yellow pages for industrial coating etc... these type of sealers are better, but depending on use, they all will lift. and yes the non skid aggrigate in the epoxy is plan ole' sand, i watched as our floors got coated. and yes the aircraft epoxy is quite a bit more money, Delta paid $250,000 to have ours done. marc |

POR-15 says that you can use it on garage floors.... As I've yet to have a garage, I don't know, but I've kept that in mind for when I eventually do have..... FWIW.... -L

Marc is right, that is why I could not use the epoxy on my garage no matter how much I spent on it. I knew I could not prepare the surface with all that stupid glue on it already. The aircraft hangar stuff was much better than the epoxy stuff you buy at the home depot. We used to apply a new coat on the hangar every 4-5 years. Even then, the only reason was that it was looking bad, had lost it's ability to allow for good clean-up, and in bad cases, had started peeling up when you put a large twin engine, or jet on it. |

From what I read when I went to the link that Leslie gave, it sounds ok. I just do not like when it says that it will yellow when exposed to the sun. In Arizona we have minimal sun damage issues. :-) Stacey |

Snowman, No, haven't used it yet, as I've yet to build the garage (nor the house that the garage will accompany).... However, I'm leaning that way.... it looks like it'll suit for my needs when the time comes... FWIW... -L
