Hi Dweb folks,

I've just been working out suspension and tire choices for my LWB. And have finally completed this part of the project! Big thanks to John @ EE and Steve @ LandRoverStuff!

I went with an OME suspension set up and the new Firestone Destination M/Ts tires(which you can almost find no information about online). I put up a little page dedicated to the family rovers which you can check out for photos and data.

Steve recommended that I do all the labor myself, so I did -- *phew*. Actually it was fun, and took about 10 hours total time (mainly because there were some shortcuts that I was't aware of!)

Any recommendations or ideas about roof racks would be welcomed - I am looking for a rack that stops a few inches short of the sunroof. I'm stumped!

Cheers,

~Jason

Jason,

You have a nice collection of Rovers! As far as half racks go, you can get a Surco, or a Brownchurch. The Surco is aluminium, light and cheap. The Brownchurch is steel, heavier, and more expensive. Roversnorth sells Brownchurch, along with some other distributors, and many places sell the Surco racks.

Thanks Guys, I sent an email to Ho about the roof rack.

Also digging around the net looking at the Surco etc...

Will, The LWB is mine, the D110 my dad's and the D90 my brother's. Hence, the family of Rovers :P

so nice to see a clean rust free classic.

i like that raised letter action on the lower tailgate. i think i'll have to get a decal like that when i paint mine.

Whats the average cost for a paint job on a RR Classic?
I would be interested in a paint job in BRG(British Racing Green) if the price was right. Unnfortunatly I am not sure what it should cost, and I am only aware of one GREAT auto paint shop in Maryland. I'm sure his price would be way out of my price range....

i don't know. i am just going to paint my rear tailgate as it is dented and rusty, the rest of the car looks pretty nice thanks to the aluminum body. just going to polish it to make it all shiny.

if you are changing color drastically , from say red to green, then it is a major project as you can image, because you need to do all the door jams and shit like that.

if you are just reshooting the car in the same color then you dont need to do under the hood and all the nooks and crannies.

i'd guess 2-3k for a change of color and 1k for a repainting of the same color.

know for doing paint cheaply i head quality is not so good, but might be "good enough"

Heya,

I really don't know *anything* about paint!

The wheels on the LWB are the stock 16 inchers.

Thanks Steve. Your RR was an inspiration to me.... :-)

Ciao ~Jason
