I have subs but theyre a pain in the ass off road because they slide. Also take up way too much space. It would be cool to have a tv i guess.

You could do the flip out tv, i saw it in a discovery once, but i can't remeber where it looked ok. But I don't know of game systems or tvs, just more stuff to bounce around and break.

to me, TV's and DVD and game systems are last priority. Anyone modify the stock land rover interfaces, ie. tacometer, spedometer, climate control?

I would like to build subs into the 2 cargo compartments in the back. 10" subs would fit

Go ahead and do the sub thing, i think someone made a sub box where the jump seats go, and i believe it it posted in the tech section. I have no idea about that other stuff, but the tach and spedo look fine to me.

I don't want to get any white faced gauges because I like the traditional black land rover look. I would be interested in the in-dash lcd screen, but I think it would quite a project to fit my 10'' subs where my jump seats(never used)are. That would be pretty stealth! Chris- I saw an in-dash lcd screen in the "truckin suv" magazine a few months ago. It was a 97' painted yellow to look like an XD.

yeah it looks ghetto with a big box in my trunk. Believe me, if you had subs you would understand why we have them. The sound quality is unbelievable(depending on what brand and amp). My disco is used as a daily commuter and a weekend chic magnet so you gotta have the tunes!

i really dont either. but i assume i could get around $250 - $300 for the 6 disc... and thats what an aftermarket headunit costs

No trust me I have been in my friend's Xtrerra with a $3,000 sound system, a lot of my friends at school have them it is sorta something that everyone has to have. I think the disco's bass is enough. And mine is usually my daily driver, depends how i feel. But I don't listen to much music with bass, I think rage is about the most bass i use.

I also don't get why you just want to hear 'boom' all that money for some more boom. I don't need loud tunes or bass to be a chic magnet, they just look at the dirty ass truck and come, its kinda wierd...

After looking I bet you could get an x-box or ps2 in there with a pop up tv. Or if you have headrest, unlike me, you could try and put them there. This would cost a lot of $$$ though, and seems pointles...

I have an XBOX and 2 5'6 LCD screens mounted in the headrests. The XBOX is mounted under the front passenger seat. The sound is incredible...The XBOX doubles as the DVD player and video game player (It also plays CDs) Anyway, the XBOX can be removed at anytime which is great b/c it's permanent residence is in my game room. Pointless? I don't think so especially on those long road trips.

I have the portable dvd player that is thin enough to fit in the overhead console area.

It's screen flips open and can flip over to view from rear seats.

I know this isn't an interior modification, but hook it up to the cig. lighter and pop in the tape for stereo sound and it works great on those long trips. Works great on airplanes too!

What you will do to entertain the little ones!

My subs and remotes in my D1. Takes up virtually no space, are 100% adjustable from the driver's seat, and sound great for all types of music. One can only take so much muddy crap pouring from the Disco's stock "subs" without going insane.

The Kenwood Excelon Head Unit ran me up about $380
the 6X9's, both amps and the 3 subs were around $1400 plus another $100 for the sub box/amp rack.

Here is my in-dash 7.0" LCD...just a screen, not a DVD player. I can hook up the PS2 for movies if needed. What you see on the screen now is the small camera I have mounted on the front of the rear view mirror. I have one on the rear too. Using a VCR I can record the video but I'm building a computer now that will enable me to do everything like record streaming video for the cameras, GPS, DVD, etc. I just need to find a good video card with dual video in and a video out and it will be complete.

Joel,
Thats a nice setup. I have 2 Digital Design "12 subs in my Disco I, and they sound great. Even though this doesn't have anything to do with the speakers, the third picture on the third page of your car on soundomain, the stuff on the inside doorpanels have that the Land Rover emblem on it. I have a 98 Disco and i just have shit that matches my interior and am sick of it. If you dont mind let me know where you got that, or did it come stock? Let me know.

I've recently changed out the sound system in my D2. I went with Infinity component sets for front and rear doors. 5 channel amp in one of the rear compartments (where jump seat would be). Pioneer NAV-SYS900DVD in dash. And 2 other screens behind the headrests. The kids like to play their PS2 and watch movies on trips. Keeps 'em quiet! Sounds great. The "subs" in the rear even sound better now that they have some power. But I like the subwoofer in the other compartment idea. Thanks for posting that.

Jason, nice 7.2" in-dash screen. I am working on a similar project for a LR-PC. I am finishing up some concept design and will start experiments soon. Have you thought about using USB cameras? I have found a small footprint m/b that supports four (4) 2.0 connectors. Drop me line if you are interested.

Joel,
Still looks tight! I was curious b/c it would go nicely with my grey interior. Never seen that before either, but if you do run across someone who knows how to get ahold of some, be sure and let me know. Did it also have a some of that pattern on the seats?

Jason,
Does your screen support SVGA in? I too am looking to put a PC in the rear for GPS, MP3's, DVD's and such. I'm still trying to find a good way to mount the screen (or use an in-dash unit). I have plenty of PIII small form factor PC's and LCD laptop panels but I've yet to come up with a good solution to feed the video. I really didn't want to use RCA video outs on the PC because text tends to be very blurry at the lower NTSC resolutions.
I'd really like to know how your are planning your setup. Thanks!

Garret,
Yeah the same pattern is on the seats, like in the middle it has inserts in the LR logo cloth and the outer edges are of their regular gray leather...
