Could one hook up 4 Land Rover Genuine Safari Lamps (seen here http://www.roverconnection.com/Disco%20Acc%20Pix/s5000.jpg) to the top of an adventure roof rack?? Do they work just like any other lamps?

Yes you could. You just need to realize that they are going to get beat up if you wheel in areas where there are a lot of trees and tight trails. Consider the Hella 4000.

Damien, The OEM LR Hella 5000 ( AKA safari lamps) are plastic. They have a plastic housing, and cheap mounting system and the guard that you are talking about is plastic as well. Im not sure about the lense, i would imagine for the price they must be glass.

Its been proven that the plastic housing just doesnt hold up as well as teh Hella 4K. in this case the hella 4k has a thick glass lense on it, and teh housing and retaining ring are all metal. The mount it comes with is also very sturdy.

besides that, a plug-n-play wire harness is made for the hella 4k, while you have to do your own wireing for the 5000 safari lamps.

Lights on your rack are ust like putting them someplace else, you just have to map out where you will run your wires and how you will get from teh rack, into the cab.

there are some great articles in the tech section and the archives about wire diagrams, how to run wires etc.

Your best bet is to check out susqehanna motorsports. thier web site is under "resources" on this site. Dave is a great guy, and knows his shit. he will help you with anything you want, and sell you what you need an no more. He also has the best prices oin the hella rallye 4k.
