Can you even prepare the RR series 2 for serious off-roading?

So stock vs stock and modified vs. modified. Which rig is ultimately more trail worthy(ala rubicon)?

They are both excelent off-road in the stock form. The RRC is going to be more durable off-road, and it has more aftermarket support. The P38(RRII)has some stuff made for it, like ARB locking diffs, and a few other items, but not nearly the amount made for the RRC. But it would be awsome to build up a P38, you would definately be one of a kind...There are a few out there, but they are rare.

Not many people are willing to mess up their P38
