Hey all, About two weeks ago I replaced my rear wheel bearings. About one week ago I started getting intermittent antilock t/c faults on my dash lights. So far these have always reset when I shut off the truck. I know how to read the abs fault codes and reset them it just never seems to happen anywhere convenient. I did a search here and someone had mentioned modulator valves or something. But it seems more likely I didn't reset the abs sensors properly. When I did reseat them I pretty much just pushed them in as far as I could. Does anyone know what the proper procedure for putting these back in is. Also my manual says its necessary to replace the abs sensor bushes but I do not know what those are. This is on a 95 RRC, anyone have any ideas? Thanks, Wes |

You might not have the rear wheel bearings tight enough, or you might have removed the ABS rotors and refitted them wrong. The sensors just tap in, and you can ignore the comment on the bushing unless you're replacing the sensor John www.robisonservice.com

Hi Wes, I just changed the rear bearings on my wifes 98 disco and the same thing happened. I push the sensor in as far as it can go, then it keeps backing out. Your suppose to push it in till it hits the exciter ring, then when you drive a bit its supposed to gap itself. I think the bushing your refering to is the sleeve that holds the sensor in position. I,ve looked in the Atlantic British catalog, I see the sensors listed but no bushing. I wonder if a dab of high temp rtv silicone might hold it in position. Ronnie |

So, Sat. I decide to check the actual fault code (using a procedure someone had posted here) and it comes back as 5-12 which my info shows as front right sensor intermittent wiring fault, diagnosis - check wiring. Not what I expected but I take a look at it and its connected fine, no obvious damage to the wiring but the sensor does seem a little further out than the drivers side so I tried to tap it in further but it really didn't move at all and the fault was still in the computer. Last night I tried fucking with it some more, took it all the way out and reinstalled it but still couldn't seem to get it to contact the "excite-her ring" and haven't checked to see if the code is still there. I have started to have that problem also on my 95 RRC. It seems that when I cut the wheel hard to the right, the light comes on. I have also noticed lately that sometimes when I am braking, I feel a resistance in the brake pedel. Any ideas? Thanks. |

"when I cut the wheel hard to the right, the light comes on." Which light? I had a similar problem at full lock. The red 'brake' light was coming on. Discovered the brake pad sensor connector had come loose and was getting squashed at full lock, breaking the circuit. If it's your ABS light it could be the same issue. Steve |
