I want to put in a dual battery setup in my 97 disco Tdi, maybe a Red top and a yellow top optima. I have a pretty big current draw from the amplifiers in my stereo setup and also so I can listen to it without the car on... (check it out at http://www.sounddomain.com/id/jsaenz80)
I know I can put the 2nd one in front on the side opposite the stock battery but the air filter and something else there seem to be in the way. Anybody done this before that have any pics and instructions on how to move stuff around to fit in the 2nd batt? Thanks

The tire jack and tire chock may be stored in that area. I found that if I removed that stuff and pulled off the trumpet thing to the air box, I could put a fairly decent size battery there.

whats a tire chock? the jack is no problem, I'll find someplace else for it, but yeah the air filter has a little tip on it which I guess is the "trumpet" you mentioned, whats the use of it? and is there any problems with removing it?

The tire chock would have been on top of the tire jack. It is one of those things you put behind the wheel to stop it from rolling.
You can take off the trumpet. Many people run without it on and have no problems. As far as I know, it's to help reduce water from splashing into the intake directly.

Forgive me for seeming out of it with stereo stuff, but what the heck is the Monoblock and what does it do exactly?

A monoblock is just an amplifier that works as monoaural (or just mono) instead of stereo. It is more efficient (read: more REAL watts) than other amps, but its use is intended specifically for subwoofers which dont need stereo imaging.

Joel, it's possible to get 2 Odyssey batteries in the space of the standard battery if you don't want to disturb the air box and jack etc. It's a bit of a squeeze, but it's possible:

And, you still have room for 2 more! :-)

damn thats very cool... but I live in the Republic of Panama (read: no way I can ship that dang battery here or find it), at most I can get Optimas and more popular brands like AC Delco and other stuff like that..
