Don't use a "box".
Get one of those cordura tool bags that contractors use. They are very tough, a lot lighter and A LOT quieter.

I second what Jack said. I have a snap-on bag that I throw everything into and that is thrown into a rear cargo cubby.

Anybody got a toolbox in the rear door? I've seen this, it looks awesome... but its probably a pain to get if you dont have it stock... I would love to have this since I lack the space for anything else in the car thanks to my subwoofers JEJEJE

I put my toolbox in the door, but it is a craftsman thing that isn't too big, but yea it fits and doesn't rattle around at all.

I found at harbor tools this nice tool box thing that was suppose to mount on the bed of a pick up that mounts to anything flat. Great idea, but then I got to thinking about the problems people have with the hinges bending on the rear door when they put a 35 pound hi-lift jack on the spare tire. True the leverage is different, but my tool kit weighs maybe 40 lbs. I would watch how much weight you put on that back door. I use one of those soft tool bags too. When I wheel it goes in an action packer with my recovery gear and spare parts straped down in the rear. Those soft bags are pretty good at keeping things quite, I use one to hold my shackles, jack mate and chain too. One of these days I'll get a pelican case for tools and one for recovery gear, then I put them on the roof or in the back.
