A couple weeks ago during a stop by a used Land Rover dealer, there was one vehicle with the check engine light stuck on (a Disco). This is not one I'm currently considering buying... but I'm curious about it... the lot owner mentioned that it had just been back from an engine compression test (among other check-sees) and there was something about when the settings were too high in the test it could make the check engine light get stuck on in Discos. (He said that as if that had happened before... and he said they hadn't cleared the code yet to get rid of the light.) Does anyone recall similar ever happening with a Disco... that is, where there was not really some underlying engine problem that would naturally make the light go on? Thanks.

Salesmens bullshit - if the light is on there is something wrong. What he should have said was "there is some kind of problem, and I meant to turn off the light before you got here so I could look surprised if you bought it and it came on the next day . . " It's people like that who give the auto industry a bad name. John www.robisonservice.com
