Hey all,

I'm looking at a D1 tomorrow and I want to know what I should look for.

I looked at it today (owner wasn't there) and I already know the PS Box is leaky. The motor looked very clean, no head seapege (sp?) and only minor leaking around the oil pan gasket.

Its a '94 w/ 117k asking $5995. Its fully loaded and looks well maintained.

If someone could post a link to a check list or possibly list one that would be great.

Justin

It's good that it is leaking. If it wasn't leaking it didn't have any fluids in it. You might want to check on price. Seems a little high.

I just drove it, The motor was knock / tick free and the compression test passed the test. The TCase shifted in and out of Lo and Hi just fine.

The problems I found was a squeaking when rolling down the road. It could be a break wear indicator or wheel bearings (provided they have wheel bearings?). The SRS Airbag light is on, and the service engine soon light as well.

All electrical was fine, windows worked, sunroofs too. No signs of rust or leaks.

Once I get it checked out, I thought $5k or $4800?

Thanks

Justin

I would suggest a reduced offer given the year and mileage to save for probable repairs.
Check the brake pads, exhaust, cooling system thoroughly, and fuel efficiency.
Squeaking could also be from suspension, springs, shocks,... At 117K, shocks at least should have been changed. If not, probably should be.

Out of curiosity, how bad are the purported valve issues on 95 and 96 Discos? Do they make make it strongly preferable to stay away from these years? (Which could make a '94 more preferable if you can find one with low miles.)
