Okay, so I'm getting rid of the factory bumper on my DII, meaning the turn signals have to go. I do what everyone else does - I get the trailer wiring converter, do the wiring, and convert the brake lights into stop/turn signals. Works great. Until I step on the brakes. Then the turn signals go into a rapid strobe effect. Has anyone else had this problem? How do I fix it? I asked the dealer this morning if there are heavy duty flasher relays available, he says he's never heard of it. Any ideas? |

Richard, Fast turn signals on most cars usually mean a bulb is out. So it thinks there is something missing (which there is). Without having a schematic in front of me, I'm guessing you would need to completely remove that part of the circuit that used to go to the rear bumper. Right now it thinks there should be voltage returning to some point. When that voltage is missing (as when the bulb is out in the bumper) it will give a fast flash. Some people just live with it. Otherwise, track down how the wires normally go to the rear bumper and see if you can figure out which wires need to be completely removed from the circuit. good luck and let us know what gets it to work if no one else posts. Well, I cut the wires going to the bumper-mounted turn signals and rear fogs, but maybe I should have used that circuit, rather than tieing in to the pin out circuit, for my turn signal source for the converter. I'll give that a try when I get a chance and pass on the results. Thanks for the info! |
