Hey everyone, I thought I had the rover back up and running, then my alternator went out. New one came in today, so I put it on along with a new distributor cap/rotor and a new air filter. I noticed it was spitting out some fluid from the exhaust like it was running rich, but it hadnt been driven for 5 days or so, so I didnt think too much of it. 10 minute trip into town to get gas and new oil, and the check engine light came on. It was running rough in the lower gears, so I took it home.

Getting code 36 which is one of the injector banks. I was having a no idle problem, and I took it to a local shop a few weeks back. They ran a fuel treatment through it, where they hook it up to a machine and they're supposed to clean the injectors. I know this isnt as good as pulling the injectors and having them serviced, but they thought it'd fix my problem.

Anyhow, are there any suggestions on what to check with the 36 code? I figure it's time to pull the injectors and have them serviced but it's odd that it just now started to happen.

Every single time I fix something on the truck, the next day something else breaks. It's getting old :-(

95 disco I, 153k miles.

Paul

Paul, I know sometimes with engine codes it's something "before" the part that the code references. How often is that the case?

I reset the check engine codes, and then drove it around for about 20 minutes and the check engine light didnt come on, but I'm sure it still wont hurt to pull it apart and fix those injectors.

Paul, since you've done this job, what all did you need to replace? Obviously the serviced injectors, but what other things, such as gaskets.

As you can read above, I was getting an injector code. Take a look at this gummed up intake on the #7 cylinder.

Is this simply because I had a leaking injector here, or does it point to something else?

Also, I'll go take a pic of the HUGE amounts of rust the fuel rails and post it, amazed the heck out of me.
