OK, in the process of finding my tach problem(see other message - it was the phase tap res on the alt), I screwed up and pulled the tach needle off the gauge trying to get at the circuit board.

The problem is the needle will not seat correctly now and wants to push too far back into the coils. If I pull the needle out very slightly, the needle is free to move, but eventually the shaft falls back into the coils and binds a little bit(even with the tach at the correct angle in the cluster). The needle still works, but is very sluggish in reporting the RPM's.

Any clue on how to get this back together properly?? I pulled this thing off in a moment of studidity and desperation trying to find the tach issue.

Or, does anyone have a spare tach around for the later Classics??

Thanks!
Jason.
