I heard they were all sold. They were from a cancelled UN order and were going to be modified with all of the appropriate features of the '93 110s and then imported for sale here.

With all this talk of "New" US Defenders, make sure you aren't dealing with shady characters like the ones LRX uncovered...

David, know this off the subject, but by any chance are you related to a Paul Morin who lives up that way?

How much would a new Defender go for in the U.K.

From the "group buy" thread the stated UK price is $22375.00. Damn, what a bargain. F'n Ralph Nader!!!

I don't think these are DOT/EPA certified because that year is not on the NHTSA eligibility list of vehicles that can be imported. Kentucky may be a state where things like this can slide, but as I mentioned in my other thread; just because it is here and titled does not mean that it is legal to drive on the road. Only DOT/EPA certifications can do that. I definitely would not pay $45-55K for a vehicle that is not even here legally, it can be confiscated at any time you are caught driving it. All anyone needs to do is run the VIN# with the DOT or open the door and see the DOT plaque/certificates to tell if it is legal.

I don't know if this is a big deal or not, but they say the vehicles are here in the US, but the picture of the vehicle is from L. Jackson’s website in the UK. I don’t know why they would take a picture from a website in the UK and then post it at their website, if it is already here just take your own picture of it ... maybe they were just being lazy though?

If you go to Gogo racing link and look at the picture you can see they are both taken in front of L. Jackson's wharehouse in the UK ...

http://www.landrover.com/gb/en/Products/Defender/The_Models/Station_Wagon/option s_and_prices.htm

That's for new ones with Td5 engines, unlike the 300Tdi Hans is offering.

After looking at those pictures Sabine sent the link for I can see why the U.S. doesn't want them here. They would take a sizable "piece" of the U.S. automakers pie's. Why don't they make some for import that pass U.S. specs? It seem's there would be a market?

I am thinking this is why Ford bought Land Rover. Hopefully , with fingers crossed tight, they don't fuck this one up. They really should sell that rig in the US. For crying out loud that is a world class vehicle. PLEASE... if any Ford exec is out there SELL THE DEFENDER IN THE US(For a reasonable price and "as is" please, Thank you).

They should make an add with some foreshadowing from the Iraq war victory. Their only slogan would have to be "The Defender" by Landrover. Hotcakes man, hotcakes.

Unfortunately I don't see it coming back anytime soon. I keep hearing rumors that Ford wants all the other vehicles updated first and then there is talk about the Baby Range Rover, etc., etc. and I read at the Land Rover Chronicle that it may be pushed back to as far as 2010 or possibly even canned all together except for sale in third world countries. Besides if it makes it back here to the States, knowing Ford it will have IFS or even worse Independent all around.

Didn't realize it was such a common name up there. Paul is one of my counter parts in the company and is located up there.

hmmm,, I hadnt noticed any UN convoys roaming our countryside or cities..

Did I miss some sort of conflict here in the US?

A cancelled UN order my ass......

Also notice it says they "will" have all the certs...

seems that anyone who bought one of these will be an afficiando of some sort and would know someone who posts here if not post here themselves... at the very least the grapevine would let us know of someone who bought one... and thus the lowdown on it, but this one smells like a dirty fish.
