Brake pads are very easy. If you take your time and check everything twice it will take about 2 hours to do all 4. Mine squeeked a little when I put new ones on. I used the anti-squeek compound, blue stuff in the tube.

They are very easy to do. I used spray on anti-squeak. My one rear wheel does squeal from time to time. I would buy the genuine pads because they have a thick backing on them for the anti-squeak. It is a very easy job. I have not done brakes for 10 years and it took me a little over two hours. The dealership wanted to charge me $600 for the job. It cost me $145

That's a Disco II, its even easier on a Disco I. Depending how long it takes you to remove the wheels it should take about 20 minutes to change the front pads, bleed the brakes, and put the wheels back on. I have not changed the rears on mine yet.

Can someone who is not really mechanically inclined do this too? Other than changing oil in my vehicle and checking and maintaining fluid levels, changing bulbs, etc, I have not done anything.

Do you think I can change pads and/or rotors by myself?

Regards,

Jacob

Pads are easy, rotors are a little harder but still pretty easy. If you need diagrams from the LR manual just yell and I can fax you them.

The entire job is pretty easy to do but make sure your carefull when pushing back the pistons in the calipers, they can be damaged if not pushed back correctly which can end up costing you a bundle. Open the bleeder valve and push slowly and evenly. Also I recomend buying stock brakes or good replacement brakes they last longer.

I was planning to get the DBA rotors and pads from Expedition Exchange. They seem to be well regarded by Ho and John.

I wonder if anyone has anything negative to say about them.

Jacob-

The DBAs are great rotors. While I think that any new rotor will feel good out of the box, I really noticed a difference during the later portions of the Miller Jeep Trail, which I ran this past weekend. As I drive a D2, I rely on ETC to help me through tough spots on the trail. Towards the end of trails with OEM rotors, the brakes used to feel softer and less effective after hours of ETC hell.

On this past trip, the brakes felt good after the trail riding and even felt good after the long descent down I-5 from Hungry Valley to Valencia.

After having driven on the DBA rotors for several hundred miles, I have to say that the DBA rotors have made a noticable difference, which is saying a lot for brake rotors.

hey, got my disco up.....got the pads done on one side. Went to the other side. Went to compress the piston into the calliper. Both went in so far. But one piston only goes so far. Almost, really really close to fitting the pad. But cant seem to get it in. And when I pumped the brakes, the one i got in was the only one to come back out? Any sugestions? Waiting here right now witht eh truck jacked up.
Thanks
Sean
