Nick,
I put a Flowmaster on a few months ago, hacked off the resinator and replaced it with a stainless steel 3inch pipe. My buddy has Borla and I think mine sounds a lot better than his. The Flowmaster has a deeper tone, and after 2 or 3 weeks of being broken in, it can scream pretty good. I would recommend the Flow to anyone, i am not dissing the Borla, but it is a lot more expensive and the Flow in my opinion does sound better.

I also have a flowmaster and it sounds nice. I had the local muffler shop run a 2.5 inch pipe all the way without the resinator, at the end of the pipe I put a chrome tip which looks very nice. My flowmaster came with lifetime warranty so any thing happens I can get a new one for free.

The flowmaster is just a maze of metal that changes the flow of the exhaust to resonate before exiting (Like sticking your head in a 55 gallon barrel and yelling). The Borla is made of stainless steel and is more a true muffler with a synthetic material (not fiberglass) inside to muffle the sound but still allows a nice tone.

A stainless steel flowmaster will add about $50 to the cost of their normal steel ones. The Borla is not as loud as the Flowmaster but seems to be much more pleasant if you use it as a daily driver or long trips. I'm not telling anyone which to purchase, just stating my experiences with many differant cars. I have some mpegs of the Borla exhaust if anyone want to hear them.

I paid $40 for my slightly used Borla. Total of $80 for all new rubber hangers, remove the resonator and replace with a pipe (2 bends and a turndown) and a 4 month old Borla that was too loud for the previous owner. Since I'm off-road alot and occasionally scraping things there is not much use in me buying a pretty shiney new muffler.

Jason - FYI - price diff between the SS and CS Flowmasters is only $10 (see Jegs and Summit Racing). For the little difference - I used the SS.

Use the Flowmaster 50 series with 2.5" center inlet and side outlet.

A local shop did the system in 2.5" SS pipe (catback) for $250. Kinda high - but it'll last longer than the 2 years the stock systems were lasting me.

The tone is pretty good - no 2500 rpm drone during highway driving - though you can hear it with the windows down.

Hell, for the price go with the Flow. $250 isn't really that bad of a price for all stainless cat-back either.
