I am switching over to a new size mud tire. I hear that the skinny tire will cause a little less stress on the truck and is maybe better in mud. My thought is, a wider tire will give larger voids (same brand tire) than a skinny tire. The larger voids let the mud fly out much easier; hence, why AT's clog up so quickly. Any one have any thoughts? I'm just comparing my 33/12.5/15 to my 265/75/16. The 33's do much better in mud but they are on a different vehicle. Let me know what you all think.

Thanks

I run 225x75x16 BFG MT on one of my trucks. These are a skinny tire and I find they work just great in mud. I find that these cut through the mud to the firmer ground below therefore giving better traction, although if the mud is so deep you can't walk it, you can't drive through it either.
I'm surprised that your 33s do better than the 265s, perhaps because of the larger rolling diameter? Perhaps because of the treads?

Don't tell me the Cruiser is showing up the Rover in the Mud. I bet Corin is just a better driver than you.
Just give the disco a little more gas to clean the tread out.

D. Her tires suck! She has the Dunlop Mud rover and they just suck! They wear out fast, their sidewall is weak, you can't balance them with 7oz of weight, and the list goes on....But they are better in mud than my tires. Sometimes I think that the skinny tires dig down to the point where your diff gets caught up and you high center the entire truck. I'll see tomorrow at the event in the Burg.
