I'm gonna order the workshop manual from my dealer in england who only wants 50GBP for it... and I was contemplating getting the rubber mat set at the same time for 69 pounds... will they fit because of the change in side of the driving position?

Maybe I should be more specific... Are the LR disco I rubber mats the same for both the driver and passenger sides (but inverted)?

Hi James
I had a look at mine (RHD) and they must be the same, they do have removable sections in, but I have not needed to do this on mine, might be different on yours.
How much will postage cost for the mats?

Prepared to be shocked by the cost of shipping. Very VERY little is worth buying in the Uk due to the cost of shipping.

If you do ship, get it shipped directly. That way you don't pay sales tax/VAT = 17.5%

Lat thing I got in the UK were waffles that I brought back with me on the plane

Hi
just as an aside, if you want to work out what postage will cost just visit the royal mail website, and they have a proforma that gives all the prices.

Sorry to hijack the thread...but Chris, what is your opinion on these Waffles? I got a pair, and tried them in the desert...the tire ate several millimeters out of them, and they were useless as a traction device...as a bridge, they work, but traction device, worthless...I don't even carry them anymore!

drop me an email, I am traveling to the UK in a few weeks, and shipping some stuff back. I could probably just pick up what you need.

I have had many things shipped from the UK and have been very pleasantly surprised at the shipping costs. In many cases, UK suppliers will ship things overnight DHL and the shipping ends up costing less than overnight domestic delivery. If you specify slow boat shipping, the costs are dramatically less. If the supplier you are using happens to have a container coming across the pond, you can even get better shipping costs. I purchased a bunch of fairly heavy stuff (CVs and the like) the UK supplier put them in a container with another gentleman's stuff and when he received the container, he shipped my stuff via USPS and the cost was near to nothing!

The cost savings on the parts far outweighs any disadvantage to the shipping. Also, don't bother trying to time exchange rates, your credit card company will rape you regardless.

Peace,
Paul

Paul - which suppliers have you used in the UK? The dealer that is close to my home in the UK seems dirt cheap compared to any supplier over here.

Josh - My dad wants to buy the stuff I need for my birthday gift so he has already gone down to the dealer and bought the stuff and he is going to give it to my friend to bring to me next month. Thanks very much for the offer, let me know if you go again... I might need more stuff... maybe when I manage to get a job :-)

yay... almost three months 'till I move to IN
