I'm considering the purchase of a SG rear bumper for my DII. An optional feature is the flasher kit. Is this required in order to have turn signals or are other options available. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

My personal experience with $G has been nothing short of attrocious.
failure to fill order.
failure to refund.
had to file a dispute with credit card company.
ask around and you'll hear a lot more of the same.

Who cares what they make, their service is so bad you'll never get it. In addition the build quality on recent stuff has gone waaaaaay down. that little 4runner tubular bumper joke is their current priority.

sorry to rant.
i just had a really really bad experience and i'd hate to see another landy person suffer through it.

Yea i tried to order some diff gaurds from them, they charged my credit card then a month later i called them about where they were and they said they had been shipped. So 2 weeks later i call and they say that they ran out of rear diffs and a fresh batch had been made, i canceled my order then. But I have heard if you go to the shop you get great service. There products also sometime don't fit correctly how they are supposed to.

I talked to a local vendor...He gave me the low down on SG. To bad their such a PIA to work with, although I havn't actually experienced myself. What about turn signals though...I took off my rear bumper and now, no turn signals. Is there a way around this?

Reid, e-mail me for instructions on how to convert your rear lights since you've lost your turn signals. Also, I manufacture a rear DII bumper if you're still in the market for one. Pictures are in my gallery.

I have bought many items from safarigard and the quality is outstaniding. Have had a chance to sit and chat with greg (owner of sg) i have great respect for him and his company. My respect for the general attitude on discoweb reachs lower every day. sorry, but it's just my observation.

Price aside. I think the DII rear bumper is a nice unit. Considering other available options (virtually none). I did order a SG rear bumper with skid plate and weld in hitch from GBR. Bill tells me to be prepared to wait a while, that kinda sucks... Right now my problem is turn signals or the lack thereof. Hopefully I can remedy this problem. Bill wasn't quite sure what the flasher kit was... I'll wait to hear back from him. Anyone considering a rear bumper for the DII should contact Greg Davis. His bumper is available and seems to be pretty nice.

caveat emptor.

brandon,
my bad experience is every bit as valid as your good one. and let me set you straight newbie, there have been A LOT more bad experiences among the discoweb crowd than good. When people like a product around here they really push it, but when they don't they try to prevent other people from making the mistakes they did. You don't need to bother yourself with "respecting" my negative opinion. It stands for itself.

Let's start the clock. It's may 5th, let's see when reid gets his bumper and how well it fits. He's got the advantage of going through GBR but he's still at the mercy of Mary and the $G screw up team. When my bumper never showed I thought about cancelling and ordering the same thing through rovers north, but their sales people said that with $G they "can't make any guarantees".

Fact: Safari Gard has the priciest bumper on the market, but I ordered it anyway
Fact: John Lee and many others tried to warn me that even if I got it, it would be flexy and a poor fit
Fact: I waited over three months with numerous excuses, but never even a returned phone call from Sorry Gard
Fact: John Bradley Smith at Rovertym took and filled my order before $G even refuned my money
Fact: They would not refund until my credit card company threatened them

None of that is "attitude", just reality.

you got respect for there global extremes 4Runner, brandyboy?

I ordered my SG rear bumper In early November, and had it by Dec 15th. It was promised before Xmas.

Mine fits just fine, doesnt flex at all, and has been bashed several times now with not flex, not denting or folding.

I have had my run ins with Mary on little timing issues before, but they also do get it right. I have bought 4 things total from them, and I would rate 3 of the 4 experiences a 10, and one a 7.

The rear flashers are converted using a simple trailer conversion box. It takes the turn signal and brake signals in one side, combines them internally, then gives you a combo brake/signal output. You can buy these converters at your local auto parts store, or I have two units that I'll make you a deal on. They typically run about $20-$25 each. I used one on each side so I wouldn't have to run wires from one side of the truck and then back again.

Greg,
If you recieved my email I won't bore you with the details again. I did cancel my SG order. If you could hook me up with the conversion kit on the tail lights that would be great. E-mail and I'll talk with you more. I would like to purchase one of your bumpers.
