I think he said he already tried that.

Rick: I'd go along with James' assessment that you have a blocked fuel filter. What happens sometimes when you run out of gas is the shit at the bottom of your tank gets drawn up with the last amount of fuel.
BTW, doesn't your fuel gauge work?

James,
I have some photos to send you in the next couple of days as soon as my scanner returns from open heart surgery.

Pull the fuel line at the engine and see if gas is flowing. Whe you replaced the filter did gas spew out of the line?

or, instead of pulling a line, just check the fuel pressure at the schraeder valve on the fuel rail on the left side of the engine.

There is also another built in fuel filter on the fuel pump. I'll be able to take a picture of it tonight.

No fuel comes out shraeder valve when i try to start it. But after a few minutes I can get some out. What would I use to test the pressure with?

Rick

P.S. Thanks for the Help!! Land Rover wants a lot of money to just look at it.
You guys are great!

should be able to get a fuel pressure gauge with a schraeder fitting at a parts place, but i have heard you can use a regular tire gauge as long as you toss it once you have checked the pressure once. pressure should be between 34-36 i believe?

It looks and sounds like the fuel pump is not running. I half removed the fuel pump and had my son try to start it. no fuel pump sound??? I checked the fuses but they are OK. How do I remove the fuel lines to the pump? Rick

You should be able to hear the fuel pump from the drivers seat when it turns on.

You opened the hatch in the back of the rover, below the carpet?

Just unbolt the cover on top of it. You should be able to just remove the lines using a wrench, then take a screwdriver and a hammer and tap that ring around since it'll be kinda tight, this is just a really big nut.

That's all you need to do to remove the pump, just make sure the big rubber O ring that fits around the pump doesnt fall into the tank. Double check that the multi-plug that hooks into the pump is all the way in, this is what gives it power.

Is it sitting on an incline? If this were an old Jeep, it would be a 'spray in some starting fluid' issue, as kind of described here: http://www.valvoline.com/pages/products/product_detail.asp?product=41

DOes the disco have a fulel pump relay somewhere that should be checked before you replace the pump? though since you are eventually getting fuel pressure...

are you getting spark. are the plugs wet?
