Hi I havent had my Disco very long and noticed that there seems to be a slight miss in the engine. I just replaced the plugs and it helped alittle. My question is, is there any plug wires I can buy from autozone, advance autoparts, napa...that will fit the disco, or do I have to order them online? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Also if there is, do u know the part number for these?

Adam, as far as I know (I'm not the authority on the subject) but I don't think you can purchase direct fit replacements at your avg. auto parts stores. I tried AutoZone and Advance Auto when one of my wires was toast and had zero success. At the dealership, you can buy them individually for around 8-10 a piece if I recall correctly. I ordered a complete set of OEM wires though from Nathan at http://www.discountrovers.com and had them within a matter of days. Many people here have gone with aftermarket Magnecore wires, but I figured if my OEM set lasted 140,000 then I would just stick with what LRover put there to begin with.. I'm not sure what year Disco you have, I have a '96, but if your's is '96 or above check to see what codes the OBD-II is showing, AutoZone will check it for free here in TN, not sure about elsewhere..good luck

Thanks robert, I also have a 96 disco, 73k miles. Codes show a misfire in cyl 8.

Adam, that is where my misfire was. From my limited knowledge, #'s 8 and 5 are most likely to begin showing symptoms of sticky valve syndrome first. However, I had the same code as you once, but upon further investigation the number 8 wire was simply loose off of the plug. A simple push cleared it up.

BTW, FWIW, #8 is on the passenger side of the vehicle at the very back, closest to the passenger seat.

It seems a lot of people are happy with sets from.. http://www.magnecor.com/ and they have been on special for a while.

I checked the wires and they all seem to be tight. Which makes me wonder about the sticking valve. Is there anything I can do as a precautionary measure against this? Or to fix it before it really sticks? Thanks for all of you responses.

Try swapping the #8 lead over with the #5 or any other that will reach and see if this fixes the problem. If it does, then it time to change all your leads. If not, call for Plan B.
