I realize this may have been already discussed in the past but I could not find anything helpful in the archives... My passenger window doesn't work any more. It happened without notice. Any suggestion on the best way to rationally trouble shoot the cause without tearing the whole car apart? Thanks! Lionel (95 DiscoI) PS: BTW, thanks to Dweb, I could swap my leaking steering box for a Meridian one with no major difficulty. Total time 5 hours, with 1 hour to find the pitman puller and 1 hour to realign the steering wheel. Messiest job ever though... Need advice on how to do all this easily? just ask! |

Carter, Excellent lead, thanks! However, how do I know that the window motor is not the cause? Thanks, Lionel |

Can you move the window up and down with your hand? If so the metal peice ( don't no the proper name)my have to be spot welded back on. Did you hear something drop inside your door at any time? Craig. |

Your contacts might be dirty. Push the button hard and fast repeatedly. |

Craig - I doubt it is mechanical as I did not notice any noise nor did it happen while actionning the windows. Thanks though. Charles - Thought the same, played piano on the button with no success. I am 99% sure it is electrical, just have to find a way to test separately the motor and the board before I take anything apart. Thanks, Lionel |

My 95 did the same thing. The ECU may be the problem but it more likely not if you rear windows are working. Pull out the window switch first. My window stopped working because in the morning I put my monster coffee mug in my center console bin. Over time I spilled coffee down that switch area and my window stopped working, clean the switch, contacts on connectors. Now I am planning to buy a big mug to work in the cup holder and my pass. window works again. |

I just recieved my Disco 1 (95) today, and noticed the left rear passenger window doesn't respond to the window switch. All other windows work accordling.. Would this electrical window board be specific to one window, or all? I would rather not take apart the board if it is not applicable to my situation (since the right rear window works). I will check the actual switch unit itself, but any other ideas? Thanks, Mike |

Try switching the suspect window switch with one you know works and see if that works. If not most likely window regulator motor or something else, but what do I know. I sit around all day long reading the Discoweb.LOL

Fixed! You guys pointed me out in the right direction. So, I checked the window switches, did all kind of combination for fun and had to do surgery on one of them to take the car previous owner dog hair out of it...Must have been a really hairy dog or a super small one, it is everywhere where you don't normally expect it! Cheers, Lionel
